Drain the vst tank. Refill with fresh fuel via the primer bulb, drain and repeat until the fuel runs clear. Get some of Mercury's Quickleen add to the fuel tank following label directions. Then mix some Quickleen and fuel at a 1part Quickleen to 4 parts fuel mixture put this in the VST tank.

Yes, you can check the output with a multimater placed on the battery terminals and the engine idling. If you are only reading in the 12.1-12.9 volt range, the alternator is not charging.Make sure all connections are clean and tight. Use a multimeter and test for voltage at the battery- you should have 13.8 volts+ at 1200 rpm. If not, prepare yourself to replace the voltage regulator.
