Dec 1, 2016 · 1999 Prairie 300 Starter Removal Problem. I am trying to remove the starter. I read the manual and got all the way to removing the starter mounting screws. The rear needs wet brake compatible oil. I use just normal tractor hydraulic fluid or TDH. The front you just use normal 10w40 motorcycle oil. The linkage likely needs to be lubricated, although they are a little stiff at the best of times.
