The reserve is .87 gallons. That leaves 2.83 gallons available before you have to hit the reserve. I assume that the 3.7 gallons is when the tank is filled to the top.My buddy has a sportster with a peanut tank and he's the first one to run out of gas, too. But that one is really small.
