After inspection it was found that the battery acid was in fact low. I could also smell like an electrical burning smell, and felt that the rectifier was extremely hot. There was also white colored light ... After replacing it I hooked a test light to the ground and tested the hot wire (blue wire),which had a light which proved power was getting to it. Then when I hit the 4wd button the light went out which showed the hot wire was no longer getting power. Same as when sliding it into diff lock. Then once the 4wd button is disengaged, power returns.

I bench tested the new starter and it spins fine with a known good battery with 220 cold cranking amps.Hook the jaws on the yoke and i put a 1/4" drive socket on the u joint cap to press on. Then tighten the bolt and press the cup out. If it dont want to press very well because the caps are rusted in. Try pressing on the opposite cap to break the rust bond so you dont stretch the ears of the yoke out. Like. S.
