For example, the latch was triggered by another object and closed. Then the tailgate cannot be closed because it thinks it is already closed. You could try pulling this tether to try and manually reset the latch, not sure if this would help, but it ... 1) press power close button the tailgate. 2) tailgate goes almost all the way down but won’t latch at the end. 3) I need to press it hard down or re open and close. Best thing to if all of the fuses look ok and it wont start working after resetting the computers, is let's get it scanned for trouble codes in the liftgate computer, I suspect that one of the sensors or the latch motor has failed and won't let it work right, but the codes should point us in the right direction.Turn the dash switch off. Turn the key off. Manually open the door fully and then close the door fully and make sure the rear latch powers up and pulls the door closed.
