As JMOR says, you are compressing springs as shown in the picture. Selecting Position control moves the pin onto the cam as in the picture. There is little lubrication in the area of the cam and pin so the pin wears when you use Position control and if you constantly use Position rather than Draft, the pin has a limited life.a good 3000 will swing a 6 medium heavy mower.. or any 5'er make sure you are not in draft control.
