So, 3 pillars of D&D: Combat, exploration and social interactions. Combat is a wash for me. They both are great, and while I like Solasta a tiny bit more, it's mostly because I've more time invested in that systsm. i went for a different pick for survival monk: Dwarf. since you need con for the 11th level feature, +2 really helps. for sub race, either snow or hill will work. Snow gets +1 dex, and the heavy crossbow proficiency is nice for a back up option at longer ranges. Hill gets +1 wis, and the extra hp per level is nice and builds into the theme.
