If the frame has a "P08" stamp just below the left toggle knob, if the date on the receiver is "41" or "42" and the maker's stamp on the middle toggle is "byf" I'd say the black plastic grip panels are correct. If these stamps don't appear anywhere on your luger the plastic panels are not correct.I am seeing 93,000 Code 42 lugers being manufactured in 1939 with serial numbers ranging from 2000q-5000z. All serial numbers I am seeing in this time period are 4 digit. Yet the serial number on this weapon is 3 digits, i.e. 734. Does not appear to be authentic.
