If it doubles in under 96 hours you are still in with a chance. 48-72 hours for doubling is considered optimal I believe. Even if it's not doubling in 96 hours, this isn't necessarily a miscarriage, sometimes a vanishing twin can cause a lower number on a second reading that then is fine on the next test. Quote.
