I really want to avoid taking it to the dealer and I came across a potential 'fix' that involves changing the brake light switch.Possible that over time--- porosity in the spark plug tubes-- caused slight pooling of oil or coolant. when you removed the plug- the oil/coolant went into the cylinder. the smoke you saw- was the liquid being burned off.
