Disconnect the shift cable at the transmission, this will allow you to work the shifter to see if it's something in the cable as well as work the arm on the transmission by hand to see if it is rough/hard to operate. I have recharged the batt (13.2v). I checked the ac volts from the stator and in a nutshell at 1000rpm 19.6v, 3000rpm 45v and 5000rpm 74v. So it now points to the regulator. Water in the fuel will act like yours also. These units use electric power steering not hydraulic. The light being on shows that there is a problem with the EPS. First thing is to check and clean all the electrical connections on the EPS unit. You won’t be able to tell if it’s cracked until you pull the sprague and squeeze it to see they are detached. Get an aluminum sprague cage and be done with it.
