It simply means that cousins share the same grandparents on both sides of the family. There’s no mixing of blood there. It’s the same as if two people who are not related get married.Hmm. People don't generally show the signs of inbreeding on the first round. It takes generations of repeated inbreeding to cause drastic symptoms. Maybe that's what happened, but I could also see fetal alcohol syndrome being a factor. Yes this is a family whose members suffer from a genetic defect likely passed down from inbreeding. Little is known about the whittakers but they appear to show signs of inbreeding.
