2010 CRV whining noise. My 2010 CRV makes a whining noise when accelerating. The noise disappears when the RPM's decrease as it shifts into last gear. It is there when you start the engine and gets louder if you rev the engine. The Honda dealer said it was the bearings in the water pump and replaced it ($$$) but the noise is still there.

The sound is loudest around the front passenger area. Someone recorded a video with the same exact sound that I'm hearing. They never posted about whether they found what was wrong or not. However, I do agree that this likely isn't an alternator noise. Honda P/S pumps fail often, and many times make noise without causing heavy steering. He needs to turn the wheel back and forth without moving the car, and if that causes any significant variation in the noise, it's a pump.
