Personally, I would never consider long-term ownership of a modern diesel with emissions intact. His dealer actually encouraged him to do it, while they had a lineup of L5P waiting for a tank. I really depends on what you call "available". Sure, you can now delete an L5P, BUT, you have to do the computer swaps (ECM / TCM). This delete option is costing many $6k - $7k. I have a 2017 L5P 2500 that won't start (I know) because the lift pump isnt turning on. I"m not sure what relay 1 or 2 is for the lift pump but all fuses seem to be fine and I have bench tested relay 1 and it seems to be fine. I'm gonna add also that the fuel gauge isn't working either. I don't seem to be getting a keyed 12v to the relay either ...

And if my l5p isn’t plugged in at night during this cold. My duramax will not start in the morning. I cycle the glow plugs a few times and give it a shot. The truck engages starter and rolls once cuts out for 3 seconds and repeats. Two new batteries, treated fuel, also put a new starter relay in a few days ago to see if was part of the issue.
