Smith and have had a few others in the past including a BSS, S&W and Japanese SKB. If you are sold on a SXS (and there is a reason O/Us have taken over the market) then I would go with a current model gun and recommend the CZ or TriStar in the entry price range.

When shot 8 times at a sporting station the barrel gets too hot to break with the small, thin forearm.I’ve seen 4 new Bobwhite guns at my local club with problems out of the box. A 28 gauge that wouldn’t fire at all, no indent on the primer, 2 20 gauge guns that had lite primer strikes on one or both barrels and the one today was a 20 gauge that fired both barrels when the front trigger was pulled.Starting from the left, I have the Sharptail Target in 12, the Bobwhite in 20, and the Bobwhite in 28. The CZ Quail is a 20ga over under with 28in barrels but a slightly shorter length of pull. I'm 5'11" and it still fits me and is my goto shotgun for quail, chukar and dove. I really enjoy shooting that gun. For pheasant, I use a CZ Woodcock G2 in 12ga. It's a nice shooter as well.

Bass pro near me has the Bristol and the Bristol Silver for 919/849. Located a CZ Bobwhite at a local shop here in Kerrville for seven and change. I like the CZ, a little plain. The Bristols are really pretty guns, and I like the Fajen connection. Budget is fixed, so as much as I would like a Beretta it is out of my budget.
