So I spent like over 2 seasons on Ginger Island regularly going through the volcano mines. I don’t usually go out of my way to use bombs but I definitely mine a lot of stone. Over most of my time in Ginger Island I never once got a mummified bat Then I started grinding for stone to craft staircases and went into the volcano with a bunch of bombs.
It took me a long time and a lot of bombs to find it. Keep going on lucky days and bombing all the rocks. Supposedly it's a 1/200 chance but it certainly doesn't feel like that lol. Just keep breaking those rocks... I finally got it! and yeah it felt more like a 1/1000 lol. Idk if this is just a pure coincidence or what, but i could NOT find the mummified bat for the life of me. I gave up on that & tried looking for the last few golden walnuts i needed, and as soon as the walnut parrot told me to “help man in tent” i thought i’d give the volcano another shot & i found 2 mummified bats on the first level.
