Oanda has a history system that retrieves up to 5000 candles of history. Depending on the broker, that's significantly more (or potentially less) than you can get from the history of MT. I've had cases with MT4 where I could only get the last 2 weeks of data for H1 for NZD/USD, which was unacceptable to put it mildly.
