The later pics confirmed yours as a 1983 318 B43G machine. So, I have a 1986 B43G configured the same (with the newer replacement coil and external condenser). In 30 years things can get changed, so it could be the right wire. If it has power with the key on, and no power when the key is off, it's probably the right one. Looked it over a bit more. I compared the wiring to my 318 and put the ignition coil from the 318 into the 317 with the same results no power to it. Just a quick ground and the coil will fire if it don't the coil may be the problem; If it fires I would check the ignition switch. The Onan is one of the more simple streight forword engines.
