I have a 2012 dodge avenger se 2.4l, the engine cranks but won't start. It first happened a few weeks ago, I took it to be checked and they said it was the alternator. I had the alternator and battery replaced. It was fine for a couple weeks and then when I went to start it today it wouldn't start.The grounding has a little green to the copper. I may have some bad ground wires to redo . Transmission has been replaced with a Jasper right around 100,000. Moving the wires around has made the crank sensor code go away. Today was the first time I've seen shift solenoid circuit. Its always a circuit malfunction no matter what shows or low voltage.

Since you can jump the relay, and get it to crank, and you say battery and starter are both strong, it's go to be an electrical glitch. When the engine starts and then dies within 2-3 seconds, that is classic for the key not being recognized.
