Not really much defense against any ghost events. You can dodge it pretty easily, I’ve had it spawn on me and it seems to have a bit of a grace period itself. 10% sanity isn't worth bothering trying to dodge it. Soon you'll be hanging out in dark rooms wanting your sanity to go down, so you can listen to the hunt.
